Love at First Sight

She was just your average girl, not popular by any means. It was Sophomore year and Christy had been head over heals for Ryan.  He was your average player.  He knew she liked him and he used that to his advantage, as most boys like him do.   A few weeks back he had made a move and kissed her at Michelle's house.  While Christy loved it, his complete ability to ignore her the next day at school didn't sit easy with her tender heart.

What he didn't realize, was that his days of playing her were nearly over. That somehow in some way  another guy would step in and win her heart. He didn't actually want to lose her, he just didn't want to be tied down to one girl.  It want his style to close his options to what he thought he could have.

Without as so much a warning, there he was.  His name was Michael. Standing there talking to Ryan as his aqua blue eyes sparkled with excitement. The great thing was he didn't have that sneaky look to him.  He was genuine and sweet looking. He stood with confidence but not cockiness, hands in his pockets and his cute crooked smile.

The dance between Christy and Michael had already begun earlier that day. At Jen's house in Blackhawk.  It was the summer of 1991, and the heat was pouring down into the valley causing everyone to escape to the cool air of the house. Music was blaring from the intercom system in the house wild 107.7.

Christy had never felt like the most beautiful girl.  She was skinny and shy, her hair was sandy blonde and sat right above her waist straight and always somehow perfect.  When it came to guys,  she was a bit shy having been played a few times before.  She wanted the right guy to come along and seep her off her feet. Why she had never noticed Michael before, she didn't know.  He was tall and his dirty blond hair was perfectly combed. He had on a Stussy t-shirt and baggy shorts, his Air Jordan's were obviously new and he cared about his appearance. She was drawn to his look and the way he laughed.

Christy was engaged in what Ryan was doing at the moment.  Ryan was doing his usual flirting and trying to get Christy's attention.  Michael stared at her flawless figure caught up in the moment, wondering  why Christy put up with his player attitude. He had never had a girl friend and only dreamed about how amazing it would be to hold a sweet girl in his arms and kiss her tenderly.  Christy was way out of his league, or so he thought.  Michael somehow believed his struggle in school, put him out of arms reach of a girl like Christy.

What would a girl do with a guy that had to attend learning skills class, after all.  He was a great basket ball player, and he played baseball his whole life.  To have a girl friend became a dream that may never be realized. He wanted what some  other guys had, a girl to protect and love. He knew he wouldn't be like some other guys that just wanted to use and girl and move on. No, he actually wanted a relationship and all the benefits that came along with it.

Christy looked back while Michael wasn't looking.  She was drawn to his sweet soft disposition and walked towards him.  He smiled and made some cute remark about how Ryan was acting like a total ass. She smelled his  Drakkar cologne, sending her heart reeling. She agreed and smiled quietly.  What Michael couldn't stop thinking about, was how beautiful her eyes were, and her smile made him feel like he was on fire!  What were the chances this girl would actually like him?

Meanwhile, Ryan was over on the couch showing Jen how amazing his skills were at Super Mario Bros, and Christy watched from a distance.  Butterflies began flooding into her stomach as she realized that Michael was staring at her, she was  blushing so much there was no hiding it.  Michael was paralyzed by her beauty at this point and the realization that Christy may actually be responding to his lame attempts at flirting.

Christy could have cared less what Ryan was doing now, because all she could think about was Michael.  She wondered what he was thinking and the idea that he may like her sent her heart into a new dimension.  Michael on the other hand was nervous as heck.  His hands were sweating and his heart was racing like a thoroughbred.  He so desperately wanted to walk back over to her and her friend Amy and wrap his arms around her. He knew absolutely nothing about this girl but all of the sudden she was glowing like an angel.  He needed to know her and hold her in his arms and kiss her perfectly shaped lips.
